GLORY DENIED

Board the Baylander, a Vietnam war aircraft carrier, and be immersed in the story of Colonel Floyd James Thompson, America’s longest serving Prisoner of War. Experience the culture shock of the 60’s and 70’s, and observe how media and memory forge American identity.

7:30pm: On the deck of the Baylander, watch the sunset on the Hudson River with a mint julep in hand sporting your sweetest '60s look listening to The Zombies sing-- "She's not there"

8:30pm: Descend to the Jungle Deck to hear the true-story of Colonel "Jim" Thompson who returns home after 9 years of imprisonment in Vietnam to his wife, Alyce, and a changed America.

Opera Upper West's production of GLORY DENIED by Tom Cipullo is an official event of New York Opera Fest 2017, created to showcase the breadth and diversity of opera in New York City. New York Opera Fest is produced by members of The New York Opera Alliance (NYOA) in partnership with OPERA America, the national service organization for opera and the nation’s leading advocate for American opera.

Take the 1 train to 125th Street subway stop, Walk West on 125th Street to the Hudson River (approx. 4 minute walk).

You will see the Baylander at the Corner of 125th Street and Henry Hudson Parkway.  Nearest Address: 712 West 125th Street.
